Le Ruisseau, 1860s by Marie-Alexandre Alophe
He was Gustave Le Gray’s assistant before he took over his studio on Blvd. des Capucines 35 in the late 1850s. Many portraits attributed to Le Gray may actually be by Alophe who was also a painter and lithographer.
